My take:

I will be posting some articles that hopefully, most will be able to, at least minimally have a good basic and fundamental understanding about two (2) things that I knew a lot of Apo's, other people, or even so called Christians keep on asking, for their own enlightenment about their faith. The articles will be posted in the Bible studies/history category.

But before anything else. I do believe that God is the creator of this whole world and also the heavens above. With that, isn't it that God also created science, history, and archeology? From our faith tradition, we do know that God is the author of the Bible by inspiring man to write it. Hence, if He did created all things, then what He told the Bible writer should be also, correct or true. In this sense then, what the archeologist finds in their search of truth, that what is written in the Bible about things can then also be true.

God Bless,
Bp. +Filippo

Much of the literature and sciences that our present civilization possess are from the first civilization ever existed on earth, the Sumerians. The Sumerians have accurately recorded through cuneiforms the celestial activities and their effects in the life of man and the earth in general. They possess so advanced civilization, science and technology, religion, among other things which they claimed were taught by the Gods.

The Sumerian civilization was once located in the present day Iraq. The Genesis story and other biblical accounts were originally Sumerians'. The Hebrew writers or compilers put those accounts and later came up with the present Pentateuch. You will certainly find parallel of the several stories in the Pentateuch and the Sumerian Book.

The Holy Bible especially the Old Testament is the inspiration of the archaeologist in their search for truth. Their findings validate the words of the Bible.

AMP...btw there are various paths in this eastern discipline of Yoga. For those who do not have the idea what Yoga is all about. Yoga, yoke, union, unity, or integration is an ancient discipline of the Hindus of India, based specifically in their Sacred Scripture Bhagavad Gita or the Songs of the Lord. This book tells of the songs of the deity Krshna to the archer Arjuna in the battle field of Kurushestra. As I said there are various paths of yoga such as the Yoga of knowledge 'Jnani Yoga', the Yoga of Action 'Karma Yoga', the Yoga of Devotion 'Bhakti Yoga', and the Yoga of Sexual union - Tantra Yoga, there is also the so called 'Raja Yoga'.

In the present time, Yoga is popularized by its Asanas or posture, plus the appropriate Breathing. Yoga, to many, becomes posture, breathing, and mantra. These three elements constituting the present popular yoga is beneficial to not only to the mind but also to the internal organs especially the lungs, the heart, and liver - in general - all internal organs. How is this possible? Through posture and the breathing associated with it, the squeezing position and the elevation of the body to a certain height, the law of gravity, not only stretches the internal organs but also forces the blood to penetrate and revitalize certain parts of the body. Diaphragmatic breathing also massages the heart, remember that the heart is between the pair of lungs - as the lungs inhales and exhales it presses the heart back and forth. And again, the correct breathing is through the NOSE and not through the MOUTH. When the air is breath through the MOUTH the air is not filtered, thus all impurities of the air goes straight to the body - that causes diseases of the throat and stomach. Always clean the nose as much as you do with you teeth. If you brush your teeth twice or thrice a day, clean your nostril with damped cotton buds as well.

And again, a word of warning - do not use any mantras which are offered in books and that you never understand, mantras have inherent power which either calls down or calls up certain entity or energy frequency. Use the Christian mantra instead - the AVE MARIA.

There is one particular Orthodox Catholic practice similar to Bhakti Yoga or Yoga of Devotion which you may be interested, as I do, to learn - the HESYCHASM. Check this out..

Cheers!

Uhm, I think you may. I know of some priests who do. By the way, here in our place the elderly priests simply drink herbal juices to keep their health in tip-top shape. No time for exercise anymore =)

AMP...
Can you religious join physical fitness center? I do not think that being a religious is an excuse to be physically fit. Religious, as any body else, must be physically, mentally and spiritually fit. "Bawal magkasakit ang mga pari" health is one of the pre-requisites to perform the arduous task of serving the church and the people of Mahal na INGKONG.

However, the question was - can religious join a physical fitness center. Well, I think it is better to set-up a [private] gym for the religious and tinatakan where they can work their heart out, or design a regular health fitness program like jogging, brisk walk, swimming, biking, tai-chi, or chi-gong; the latter Chinese exercises strengthens and detoxifies the internal organs.

Joining a public physical fitness center, whether for rent or not where several men and women dressed in body fit and showy sports attires, may become a venue for sins of thought and imagination. And by the way, what would be your attire during the work-out? Will you still be in your cassock or religious attire? And how about the work out fee, who gonna pay it? He he it's becoming complicated sorry for that...

As for me, if I am a religious I would prefer setting up a BREATHING ROOM or place in my garden and do some stretching and breathing exercises coupled with slow all muscles movement, and exercising my internal organs using the age-old Chinese art of Qi-Gong or Tai-chi chuan..

..finito.
